about me

I've just started my 3rd and final year of my Product Design BSc degree at UCLan. I am a hardworking student, with a strong passion for design. Design allows me to be unique, to express my opinions, to try to change our lives for the better. I thrive on research as I believe it is the key to well designed and, most importantly, useful products. I also love every aspect of the design process from concept development to CAD work to final concept presentations. Design is my life and I hope to have a successful career in the industry. My dream is to be able to point to a physical object, on the street, in a house, or on a shop shelf and say 'I designed that'.

EDUCATION

Sept 07 - Present: University of Central Lancashire - BSc Product Design. Now entering my 3rd year, I have achieved consistently high grades throughout my previous two year at UCLan and hope to continue this until the end of my degree. I was also Course Rep during my 2nd year.

Sept 05 - Oct 06: Reading University - BSc Maths and Psychology. I completed my first year at Reading and attained a 2:2 result in my first year exams. I left due to being unhappy on my course.

Sept 03 - June 05: Baines 6th Form, Poulton-Le-Fylde. I achieved a grade A in both Product Design and Maths, and a grade B in Geography and General Studies.

Sept 98 - June 03: Baines High School, Poulton-Le-Fylde. I achieved 2 grade A*'s in Systems & Control and English Literature, 7 grade A's including Maths, Biology, Physics and English Language, 1 grade B and 1 grade C.

AWARDS

May 2009: 'Constellation Innovator of the Year' – 2nd place.

WORK

June 08 - August 08: Office Assistant - TWS Bridgwater.

Dec 06 - July 07: First Contact Officer - JobCentre Plus.

SKILLS

Through University I have learnt to use Solidworks, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and am confident in all these programs. I am also fully competent in using Microsoft Office.

I have a full UK driving license.

INTERESTS

In my spare time I enjoy crocheting, knitting and a range of crafts. I love designing my own accessories and toys and making them myself.

I also enjoy playing the piano and reading in my spare time.
